Nobody can ever find the right answer if they’re willing to accept the wrong answer.

A young woman who was raised by parents who were very unhealthy with her told her that she was dumb. They told her that her thoughts were unimportant. They told her that her job was to submit to them and to do only what they told her to do. After sending her these messages via their lifestyle in their words, they also berated her on not being a mature woman. This individual accepted their words for many years and often times prayed to find out how she could satisfy her parents' wishes so that she would be a good daughter.

Many people explained to her that she ought to honor her parents and obey them, even though she was no longer a child. She saw for many years with the right answer was for her. The problem is that she had accepted a premise that was false. The premise being that she need to continue to obey her parents. The truth is that she was no longer a child. She had not been a child for many years. That being the case, it was already time for her to walk in her adulthood, and to be the woman that God called her to be.

This meant rejecting the answers that she was given before, because they were wrong. Only after she began rejecting, the false answers was she able to find the right answer, to find the truth.

What situation are you in? What answers have you accepted?
